A story you can picture
Voices, pauses and the listener's own images bring a story to life without a screen.
A storyteller's voice shapes part of an audio story: pace, expression and pauses suggest its mood. You can imagine the pictures for yourselves. Before you begin, invite the child to focus on one thing, such as picturing the setting or noticing how different characters sound.
After a short, complete scene, ask which moment stayed with them. 'How do you imagine this house?' leaves more room than checking whether they remember an exact description. If an adult pictured it differently, compare your images. One story can have several personal visual versions.
Not every story needs to become a lesson. Sometimes it is enough to choose a favourite voice or imagine one thing that happens after the ending. If a live stream cannot pause the story itself, note its title and look for an official edition from the author, publisher or broadcaster to enjoy separately at your own pace.
Keep listening
